Yaozō started his artistic career as an illustrator and later made woodblock prints. More than twenty of his prints included flowers or birds. Twenty-one examples are shown below. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Yaozō typically drew his picture subjects in a true-to-life way but sometimes he simplified their surface details (e.g., picture 5) or colors (e.g., picture 16).
